Carr
House - the gardens and grounds
Carr House has extensive, well-maintained
gardens and grounds of approximately one acre, which have frequently
been opened to
the public as part of the Saddleworth Festival of the Arts, held every
four
years.
The gardens are creatively designed, imaginatively planted and
extremely
attractive. There is a south facing, partially walled garden, a number
of York-stone flagged terraces and pathways, linked pools, lawns, mixed
borders, shrubberies, naturalised planting areas, native and ornamental
trees and an organic
vegetable garden, all set in sloping woodland and
meadow.
The pasture (a little over three acres) is adjacent to the gardens.
There is ample off-road parking with access controlled by electric
gates.
